Ab dem Jahre 1954 in der damals größten Motorradfabrik der Welt, den NSU-Werken in Neckarsulm, gebaut, war
die NSU Max von Anfang an eines der populärsten und besten Motorräder in der Klasse der 250er. Ihr Einzylinder
Viertaktmotor leistete aus 247 cm3 immerhin 17 PS bei 6500 Umdrehungen. Die Lesitung wurde über ein 4-Gang
Getriebe und Kette ans Hinterrad übertragen und verhalf der Max mit ihrer typischen Kurzarmschwinge zu einer
Höchstgeschwindigkeit von immerhin 126 Stundenkilometern. Ihr Neupreis betrug im Jahre 1954 1.990,-- DM, was
seinerzeit in etwa dem Halbjahreslohn eines Arbeiters entsprach.

Max with its typical short-arm swing arm to a top speed of at least top speed of 126 kilometers per hour. Its new
price in 1954 was 1.990,-- DM, which was about the time was roughly equivalent to the half-yearly wage of a worker.
